When we asked Yash Sheth for a picture of himself, or pictures of his desk/setup, he said he did not have any. The only image he sent was his IG profile picture. He does not put himself in the frame, and does not think he belongs there.
Born and raised in Mumbai, engineer by training, Yash Sheth is a photographer whose work has travelled far beyond the city he photographs. He has been practicing documentary photography for nine years. He has also decided not to take commercial work, which is the sort of decision most photographers at his level do not usually survive making.
He wanders Mumbai in no particular direction and lets the city arrive in the frame. He does not look for stories. The city gives them to him.
